It is summertime in Alaska!

School is out, and it is time to play, fish, bike, camp, enjoy the outdoors.
While doing all these fun things, it is also time to plan ahead for school registration and updating medical records for the fall.
Kindergarten kids need a recent Physical as well as updated immunization record in order to register and start school.
Middle school and Junior High schoolers should be getting their Tdap boosters (that’s tetanus with diphtheria and acellular pertussis) and Menactra (the meningitis vaccine), as part of their health maintenance exams.
Children who will be participating in school sports need a new sports physical form filled out each year (every 12 months), and this can be done as part of a regular physical/health maintenance visit, which is recommended yearly.
Now is the time to put these things on the schedule, before the next school year is about to begin and you wish you had arranged to do it yesterday!
